This resembles the pre-packaged sandwich I turned down this past Monday. Why did I? I confess it was pride. It was also the fact that the young woman in her 20s who offered it to me knocked on my car door when I was stretched out in the passenger seat almost sound asleep.I was so irritated.
"What?" I said in an annoyed tone.
"Here, I bought this for you," she said, while trying to push the sandwich through the car door glass. I never felt so insulted in my life! Do I really look that pathetic sleeping in my car at a truck stop? I couldn't believe it!
"I'm fine!" I said kind of loud.
She insisted, telling me to take the sandwich. If only she knew I just paid ten dollars for a meal just hours ago.
"No thank you! I'm fine!" I yelled.
She finally left.
That was kind of depressing. Here I was, trying to enjoy my night being homeless by choice and she wanted to ruin it for me.
See, I could've went to a hotel if I had wanted to. However, I chose to spend my money on other things, like that ten dollar restaurant meal I mentioned several lines of text ago.
I just wanted to experience the kind of travel life that one would while on a budget. Okay, I must admit I don't have the highest travel fund, but seriously if I didn't want to be at the truck stop I wouldn't have. It was an adventure to me, not a drag!
Some people just need to mind their own business. They are killing my joy. I am telling the truth, by the way. I have a home. I have a place to sleep at night besides in my front or back seat of my vehicle. If I want to try something a little bit exciting and out of the norm, who is anyone to judge?
Some people just don't know how to travel.
